I’ve been living off my Elite 200 V2 for a couple of months now with shore power. Soon to hit the road so need to connect up solar and charging from my vehicle.
So…vehicle first. I have a Victron XS1400 that I’m going to use connected to my 12V vehicle battery. Would someone be kind enough to confirm I am doing this correctly please?
XS1400 will be 1 metre from the vehicle battery and 0.5M from the Elite. I was going to use 10mm cable into the XS1400 and then the same 10mm into an XT60 into the Elite.
I would set the XS1400 to take 13.8V limited to 50A from the vehicle and output that as 24V to the Elite.
In theory, it is feasible to use the app to select “Others” and avoid enabling PV PRO MODE, with a total charging power of approximately 200W. However, please be aware that there is a risk of over-discharging the car battery. It is advisable to charge the battery while the generator is running.
Our machine does have undervoltage protection, but since you are using a boost module, the power station may not be able to detect the actual voltage of the battery.
If you have any further questions or need assistance, please let me know!
My vehicle has an alternator (135A) and not a generator. I’m pretty sure the XS 1400 only charges when the engine is running so there is no chance the starter battery will be discharged.
I was hoping for some confirmation that my cabling choices were good.
