Automatic Transfer Switch for EP900

I have the EP900 and four B500s. I use it to supply power when my time of use rates are high and when I lose grid power. I would like to keep the essential loads powered without having to throw the Reliant manual transfer switch that came with the EP900.This way if I am not home when grid power goes out or power comes back on I know those circuits will be powered.

  • Can I always keep the manual transfer switch on the battery side? I have 6000 watts of solar hooked up to the Reliant subpanel. My essential loads will never exceed 2000 watts.
  • If not, is there an automatic transfer switch I can buy? In that case should I not use the Reliant subpanel?

It should always be fed from the EP900 , only transfer to grid side when doing maintenance on the EP900.

@EP900 Hi Christopher,
Please refer to the diagram above: Keep the switch on the battery side at all times, and the battery will continue to supply power to critical loads after a power outage. No automatic transfer switch is required. RELIANCE sub-panel is only for emergency purposed such as like when EP900 need firmware upgrade or maintanance.
