After latest Update the Apex300 creates a wireless mesh AP. I can’t find a way to disable it. Please tell me how to disable this AP. It is 40MHz and overlapping my main networks so I don’t want this ‘feature’. I find this a strange decision to add such a feature without an off switch it is highly intrusive and has security implications.
IoT v8026.14
ARM v2204.15
DSP v2174.17
BMS v1073.08
There has also been regression in the relays cycling on and off issue. It has been clicking like crazy for over an hour now. It is 21:30 and it is still clicking at just over 9 volts input at low sunlight. The previous version was better behaved at low voltage. It clicked but not as much as this. I think this has gone back to how it was at launch.
Bluetti contacted me on Facebook with instructions on how to disable it.
@soylentgreen They will most likely share the information with you now you have asked. I think it’s best to let them tell you properly rather than for me to share.
In my opinion, this feature was added with good intentions to support future functionality, but before a full control suite was available to let users easily disable it, and without enough transparency for proper security evaluation.
Hi @Sideeffect and @soylentgreen, thank you for your attention to this issue.
We noticed your issue is exactly the same as one raised by a user on Facebook. Have you already contacted us via Facebook?
We will repeat our previous reply here.
The Apex 300 has added Wi-Fi AP functionality in the new firmware. It works with a web server, Modbus TCP, and other features, and you can manually turn the function on or off according to your needs.
We could provid the method to bypass enabling AP mode. Please contact us via private message to get it.
@Sideeffect@BLUETTI_CARE - I got the instructions thank you, and was able to find the switch to disable the WiFi AP feature.
However, there seems no way to “save” that setting. There is no “Save” button, and if after I power cycle the Apex300, the setting reverts back to “Enabled” again.
Hi @soylentgreen, thank you for your update.
Could you record a video of the app in operation so we can analyze the issue?
Please upload it to Google Drive or other cloud storage and share the link with us.
Ok, I think I figured out the problem. There are a few UI bugs:
In the last step, before you click the Enable button to toggle it Off, you must provide a password (8 characters) in the password field. This can be anything, but it must not be blank.
Then, click the Enable button to toggle it to Off
Then, click the “Settings” button (which is mis-labeled - it should say “Save” not “Settings”).
then, restart the Apex 300.
This works around several UI bugs:
A. the “Save” button is mislabeled “Settings”
B. the “Save” button doesn’t work, unless you provide a new password for the WiFi AP network.
C. if the Enable button is off, you can’t enter a password.
Hi @soylentgreen, thanks for sharing your successful experience. It’s very helpful for other users. We have also forwarded it to our technical team to optimize the operating procedures.
The weekend is approaching, wish you a nice weekend!
