Apex300: Whats new?

Hey everyone!

Just rewatched the whole US Livestream and want to show some interesting things about the Apex300 that i notice. They only show the US Model, so the EU variant would be different as always.

The very first thing i was surprised about and is a huge change compared to AC300 or AC500… it does have a “built in” B300K or atleast a built in battery that have the exact same capacity like a B300K. We dont need any expansion battery anymore, if we dont want to. The Inverter also got a huge upgrade to up to 3480W.

AC

As you may notice, the Apex 300 dont have any DC outputs. To still use DC devices without a AC Adapter, there is a detachable DC Hub (Hub D1) that can be connected to the battery expansion Port of the Apex 300. It offers 2x 12V/24V Outputs, 2x 100W USB-C and 2x USB-A Ports. The Hub is a extra accessory and need to be purchased beside the Apex300 itself

Next thing is something many of expansion battery users waiting for… 90 degree battery connectors. They are much smaller and kinda unnoticable right now. Looks a lot cleaner. Since the Apex300 use the same connectors as the B300 uses, would be great if we can use this connectors on our old units too!

The unit also offer varios other AC Input/Outputs. Since theese are US Plugs, i dont know how they called. Here is a picture of them:

Talking about inputs, the Apex300 offer a dual MPPT like AC300, AC500 or EP500Pro but with one major change. Instead of 2x 150V 10A on one plug, we now have two XT60 plugs where each of theese can support 60V 20A (1200W).

Just my opinion, but this is a step in a wrong direction. My setup is completly build on series connection. 60V basicly means, im limited to a single panel per input with the voltage and can add a second, when want to go paralell (when im not want to overpaneling). The 150V MPPT was a better choice.

Last but not least, we have a redesigned display and also some hardware buttons to change the output voltage (think thats US exclusive, EU will get a “Magic Button” for custom function) and the Charging modes. Good thing to not need to do this with the bluetti app. Its much faster to just flip the switch!

Hope you guys enjoy that little post

Have some great easter!

Thanks Erik. I learnt a little more about the Apex 300 now. I didn’t realise you could switch to 24V output on the Hub. That is really nice, the Amperage is a little low though.

Where is the 50A Anderson port located and can that be switched to 24V 25A or is it 12V only?

Hi @Sideeffect

i read about the Anderson Plug too, but couldnt find it for now in the provided material.

Sorry
Erik

Hi Erik. They heave released the specs now and it does indeed also work at 24V and 25A as well as 12V 50A which is really cool. I just wonder where they hid the port .

The Hub A1 also looks super interesting!

Hi @Sideeffect
Thanks for your interest in our Hub D1!
It is a versatile DC Power Hub with a maximum output of 700W, including Anderson port, cigarette lighter, DC5521, USB-C, and USB-A, it can power a variety of DC devices.

If i get my hands on such a unit, i will do a Q&A here and in a livestream for the EU Variant. Cant promise

Hi @Sideeffect !

I found the anderson port. Its on the top of the hub D1.
Have a look on the video on this article at 3:30

Oh nice well done finding that. It even says 24V on the input. I am really excited about this hub I hope it is affordable.

I am watching Hobotech’s review, and he said the DC outputs share the amps, so out of two 12V/24V cig ports and two 5521 outputs, you can only get a max 120W at one time. The usb outputs also share a combined output, so how do you get up to 700W output? Which outputs can you use simultaneously? The Anderson on top does 600W, so that plus a 100W usbc? Or that plus a cigport? This plus the two XT60 solar inputs that apparently can’t do the 1200W each as stated are big disappointments for me.

@SoulGen
Hi Laurel,
The Hub D1 has two sets of 5521 + cigarette lighter ports. Each set’s 5521 and cigarette lighter are connected in parallel, with a maximum output of 120W per set, totaling 240W. The two USB-C ports are independent, with a combined maximum output of 200W. Additionally, the Anderson port provides 600W. Altogether, the maximum usable power is 700W. To approach the 1200W maximum with the XT60 port, parallel connection is required, but fully utilizing 1200W is a bit challenging. For optimal performance, it’s recommended to add a SolarX 4K.

I hope this addresses your concerns.

Hobotech states here (cued up) that, "both lighter sockets and 5521 outputs are wired in parallel, so combined all four together they can output a total of 10 amps or 120 watts - that’s for all of these; same with the USB ports. They too share a combined output.

If that is incorrect, Hobotech should amend his video. Looks like it is not an issue for many since it is selling like hotcakes.

@Selfmadestrom thanks for the extra pics and information!!!

i have a simple stupid question that is not clear for me because apex it’s very full of accessories  if i have an apex unit alone and i load it in the car for camping can i use it alone with nothing connected?

Hi @jwb16

Yes, you can! It does have a built in battery.

The only thing you need to be aware of is, that the unit dont offer any DC outputs. For that, you need to get the Hub D1 thats connected to the Battery expansion Port.

greetings

In Doug Kremers video he gets around 165 watts out of the DC outputs and the USB ports separately but he doesn’t test them at the same time. He does some nice tests on the Anderson port and gets the full 700 watts out of it at 12 Volts even though the Anderson port is only rated at 600 watts. I guess most people will be using the Anderson port with a DC fuse block for high power draws.
