Apex300 “bricked” after 15 minutes initial use

Hello All,
I’m wondering if anyone has had this experience or has any suggestions…

I received my Apex300 the other day and after about 15 minutes of initial use, it will not turn on, rather the power button green light flashes quickly (.3 sec per flash) for approximately 15 seconds, then stops flashing and the unit remains off. The display never illuminates.

When it was working initially, I connected the unit to the app and my account, and I installed all the software updates successfully. The unit had around 25% battery charge. After that, I connected to AC power and a few moments later it went off, and now will not turn on.

The faulty behavior happens both when plugged in to AC power or without power connected.
It also acts the same when B300K expansion battery is connected.

Unfortunately after a couple initial questions, BLUETTI Support has been unresponsive over email - no response, follow up, or status, for over 5 days now.

Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Keith

Hello, * Please try charging the machine with both AC and PV to see if it can be activated.

  • If the ambient temperature is low, try placing the machine in a warm location for three hours. You can also use a hairdryer or electric heater to preheat the ventilation port of the Apex 300 before attempting to turn it on.
  • If it still doesn’t work, please provide photos and the serial number.

Hello,
Thank you for the suggestions.

I tried those things but there was no change in the behavior. The unit still did not activate.

Here are the additional details requested -
SN: AP3002514003093124

Photo showing SN. I tried to include a “live image” of the light flashing but the system said that as a new user I could only include one item. Please let me know if additional photos are requested and if so, what specifically.

Thank you!

Hello, could you please tell me how you used the device during these 15 minutes? For example, were you charging or discharging? What was the charging power? How was the charging mode set? If discharging, what load was used? What was the load power?

Hello, during most of that time, the unit was not charging nor discharging. Most of that time was installing the software updates (all indicated success) and associating the unit to the app.
After that, I plugged in to AC power and that’s when shortly thereafter the unit turned off and now will not turn back on. I think the charging mode was Auto. I didn’t notice the wattage of charge or if it even started to charge before turning off.
Thank you!

Hello, in this case, please contact the customer service of the purchasing platform for repair

Hello, thank you.
This unit was acquired through the Indiegogo campaign as “purchasing platform”.
Can you please confirm the appropriate customer service contact in this case?

Was test charging from my gas generator with Grid Adaption Mode selected as recommended in the user manual, received 1.5kW. Determined the test was a success I pressed the power switch on the Apex 300 to turn off and heard a loud spark sound. The Apex 300 would not restart. Power button blinks green for 14 seconds. The display never illuminates as well. Unit is dead, cannot access through the phone app.

The loud spark sound may be a relay clicking rather than a catastrophic issue. Can you try to power down the unit and restart? My unit randomly got into a strange state where it won’t connect or respond but was fixed after a power cycle. Unplug all input and all extra batteries. Turn off AC and DC out. Press and hold power button till it turns off. Wait a minute. Press power to turn back on.

My unit is completely bricked, display is dark. The power button blinks on & off for 15 seconds.
I sent in a video of the power button, Bluetti customer service had the unit shipped back. They say their engineers are studying the failure. Wonder if all the units in the field have this problem or it’s just a small run?

Well after reading this, and for now at least, one of my two Apex 300’s has been doing the same thing, however, after it did it a couple times right out of the box and now I can’t remember at what stage of firmware upgrade, it quit and I figured all is well. Fast forward to yesterday 9/21, while I was continuing my fight with what appears to be a faulty Solar X 4K, the dang thing started the blinking, then shut down again! AARRRGGG. I have a second Apex 300 in this entire system: Apex 300 x 4-B300 batteries plus another Apex 300 x 2-B300K batteries. Parallel HUB A1, and the Solar X. Tons of $$!! For now I don’t even have the 2nd. Apex hooked up to the HUB, (afraid to after all this that’s been going on) I did have both running “off grid” for a day just to test out, AFTER charging both Apex’s via the grid. I cannot get my expensive new 6-panel PV array to “fire up” the Solar X without many errors, yet the panel specs do fall within what the user manual says should be. Very Frustrating. Oh, got off track…so BTW, just today my tech guy, who is 10 hours ahead of me in time zones, says Bluetti will contact me for a replacement of the “blinking Apex”. Hope they do soon, and replace this Solar X while they’re at it.

Thank you for this post! I have been dealing with the same situation and I upgraded the app and firmware and my unit stopped functioning. I hope they send FedEx or UPS to pickup this unit as it is heavy and won’t fit in my car. I have to Anker products and wished I went with them instead of Bluetti. Lesson learned.

They sent a pick-up label for my first failed unit and sent me a replacement a few days later. I was advised to perform a firmware update on the replacement Apex immediately upon receiving it.
The replacement unit has worked flawlessly. I am able to recharge the Apex 300 with my Firman Gas Generator by plugging the Apex into the running generator and unplugging the Apex while the generator is still running.
I picked the Apex for the 220V mode and low CrowdSourcing Price. We have a new Tesla MY Juniper RWD and hope Tesla activates PowerShare on this trim as the Performance Trim has PowerShare. I can then use the Tesla to top off the Apex which will be powering my home during a grid outage.
There are several discharge units that can pull juice out of the Tesla if Tesla doesn’t activate PowerShare on the other trims of the MY. Hope all this helps.

Thanks Bill! Just got off the phone with support and I have to wait 24 hours for an email to arrive to go to the next step since it is a BMS System Fault E074. Sounds like I’ll get a new one out of this once I jump through the hoops.

Just got ours the other day. Used it for the first time today with pass through charging and after about 8 hours it suddenly stopped working. Power button flashes and won’t power back on. We didn’t keep the boxes. Did they send FedEx or UPS to pick yours up? If we have to return it (sounds like we might have to from what I get out of the other posts), I’m not sure how we’re going to be able to do that. :S

Hi DisabledNomads,

I am waiting for UPS or FedEx to pickup the package. My unit had similar issue to yours where the power button would blink for 15 to 20 seconds and turn off. My unit worked for 8 hours as well and started having issues and would never charge up. I got a BMS system fault error code E074 I was lucky to keep the boxes it was shipped in so no need to go out and purchase the boxes. These things are heavy so be careful of your back! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for the quick reply. We’re full time RV and I had no choice but to cut up the boxes (absolutely no where to put them). :S I had a gut feeling that I should have kept the one for the unit in the front seat of the motorhome for, at least, 2 weeks but my other half insisted on getting rid of them. Lesson learned. We’re taking a look at the Anchor system that was mentioned. We’re not confident about the Bluetti now because of this and if they don’t resolve this issue fast, we’re going to return the entire thing (along with its 2 batteries). Thankfully it didn’t happen in the middle of the night.
