Well, I don’t think I can compete with Derceto’s awesome #EliteMiniCamping but I can share a story of the last time our family attempted a camping trip. While I grew up camping, it has been a harder sell for the rest of the family. A few years ago, our girl scout had her first camping trip schedule right after we started social distancing. So instead of the conventional camping, it transformed in a “virtual camping” trip where family’s set up their own campsites at home and the girls all video conferenced together. There were crafts and events and given how crazy that time was, they did a really great job. However for the actual camping part, although we got a family tent, air mattress and sleeping bags the weather took a turn for worse right before the scheduled event. A torrential downpour and temperatures approaching freezing coupled with some hesitation from our little one meant that the tent ultimately was set up indoors in the playroom. As designated camping parent I spent the night in my sleeping bag next to our camper kid on the air mattress in a tent, in the playroom. Which I’m sure was much more comfortable than near freezing outside with gear not really made for that environment.
I’m actually new to Bluetti – I ordered an AC2A about 6 hours ago! I wanted a small unit and a solar panel for trips and minor power outages with the idea that I’ll likely be back for something to keep the fridge going during outages as I expand. So for this challenge, I’m going to pick the Elite 30 V2 since thats closer to what I bought for little trips (and I think is easier hand to family members for a quick trip!). Were we camping, I think our family would want to keep the devices charged for emergency communication and gps / mapping. Cell phones and potentially some small FRS radios we have if we drift out of cell phone range. On the AC side of things – the air mattress inflator! Originally we had an air mattress which had a D-cell powered battery inflator which uh “lost” and bought an AC powered inflator. That would plug right into the Elite 30. I also really like the string light idea; we have an extra set of 25 led lights in the basement which never were added to the existing 25 we have down there and they’re weather proof. I think that would be pretty awesome looking around a campsite. And of course, charge all the flashlights. During the day, hook up a panel and charge up everything. I think my wife is interested in eventually getting a DC powered cooler/fridge as well and that’ll be the day to add an Elite 100 to the mix!
I searched through my photo albums for a bit but wasn’t able to find the photo of the tent set up in the playroom. It’s a good family memory even if it didn’t go according to plan! Instead I found a photo of a camping trip I was on in ancient times, before power stations like Bluetti’s existed or electricity had been discovered according to my now tween.
See you out there!
Hey look, me finding a boat on car!
