AC500 shows high Grid input in PV Priority UPS mode while actually discharging battery

Hello,

I have encountered an issue with my AC500 units (I have two of them) when running in PV Priority UPS mode.

When I first enable PV Priority UPS, the Grid input power shows 0 W as expected. However, after around 10 seconds, the display suddenly shows 300–500 W from the Grid, even though in reality no power is being drawn from the grid.

I have tested this by connecting the AC500 to a smart plug that measures actual consumption from the wall, and it consistently shows 0 W grid usage at the same time the AC500 display claims 300–500 W input from the grid.

In reality, during this time, the battery is discharging to supply the loads, and this can be confirmed both by the battery SOC decreasing and by the AC output power readings.

This behavior happens identically on both of my AC500 units and is reproducible every time — it starts about 10 seconds after switching to PV Priority UPS mode.

Could you please help me understand:

  • Why does the AC500 report high Grid input when the actual Grid draw is zero?
  • Is this a firmware display bug, or could it affect system operation?
  • Is there any calibration or setting that could resolve this?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

@BLUETTI_CARE Could you have a look at this? This seems to be some kind of Display error in my Opinion. The Smartplug tell 0W, even when its not right calibratet, it should output something when the AC500 would draw 500W from the grid

@masterphil Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and providing such detailed information about the issue you’re experiencing with your AC500 units in PV Priority UPS mode.

The behavior you’re observing, where the AC500 reports a grid input of 300–500 W despite actual consumption being 0 W, may be related to reactive power. Reactive power can sometimes be misrepresented on displays, leading to discrepancies between what’s shown and the actual power draw. Your testing with a smart plug confirming 0 W grid usage supports this observation.

I will consult with our development team to further investigate this display issue and see if we can address it through a firmware update. They have previously worked on similar matters.

In the meantime, could you please confirm the current DSP version on your AC500 units? If there is an upgrade available, I recommend applying it. If not, we will explore the possibility of providing a targeted update for your units.

Thank you for your patience, and I look forward to your response!

To assist you better, could you please provide the serial numbers (SN) of your AC500 units and confirm the current DSP version? If there is an upgrade available, I recommend applying it. If not, we will explore the possibility of providing a targeted update for your units.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick and detailed reply.

Here is the requested information:
• Main AC500 unit:
Serial Number: AC5002330000014336
DSP Version: v4057.03
• Second AC500 unit:
Serial Number: AC5002330000018838
DSP Version: v4057.03

On both units, the app shows “You’re up to date” and no firmware updates are available.
The behavior I described earlier is identical on both units.

I decided to write this post because seeing such a discrepancy between the reported grid input (300–500 W) and the actual 0 W grid draw initially made me worried that something might be wrong, especially since the AC500 is extremely important to me. I live in an area where power outages happen often and can last a long time. In those moments, my AC500 units are absolutely essential — they are like Superman for me, always coming to the rescue in the worst times.

I’m very happy with my AC500s — they are powerful, reliable, and have never let me down. I only noticed this behavior recently after I purchased solar panels and started running in PV Priority UPS mode. Before that, I had never seen this situation.

Thank you!

@masterphil Hi,

Thank you for providing the details!

We will push the upgradeable firmware version to your AC500 units within the next 24 hours. Please check the app after this period to see if the update has been received.

If you do not see the update, please reach out to us again. After the upgrade, let us know if the issue persists.

We’re glad to hear that you find your AC500s reliable and essential. Your satisfaction is important to us!
