i have an AC500 that i have had for about a year and have never used; the power light does not turn on and the panel screen does not either; does it just need to be charged? i have never charged it

Good place to start would be to charge it up.
Although lithium batteries can hold a charge for quite some time, making it hard to imagine the battery would be so powerless it could not turn on the basic lighting, I would still give it a bit of a charge before deciding nothing works. Just plug in the AC T500 charger to power it up and see what lights up. Another thing you might try is holding the on/Off switch for about 15 seconds in a reset type method and see what happens.
