AC500: No chance to start a 2 kW Air Compressor?

Hello,
.
some months ago an update of the firmware helped to start a
2,2 kW (230V) angle grinder.
.
https://community.bluettipower.com/t/ac500-error-012-bus-voltage-high-sometimes-when-starting-angle-grinder/32902.
.
But I fear there is no way to start a 2 kW (230V) air compressor because it starts under load.
I read that the starting current can be up to 6 times the nominal current.
.
Is there any solution?

Hi @digait, I’m afraid the startup power of your air compressor may indeed be too high and could be beyond the load capacity.

Alternatively, you could try looking into softstart accessories. A soft starter can reduce the current surge at startup by controlling the rate of current increase, which helps lower the power demand during the compressor’s startup. This might help.

There IS a very simple solution :exclamation:
I found a comment in a DIY forum.
.
Increasing the resistance by using a long cable between socket and compresser.
.
I used my 50m cable drum.
And … the compressor started without any overload trouble.
:grinning:

Hi @digait, Thank you for sharing, this solution is truly incredible!
We had never thought that using an extended cable could resolve the issue.
We have submitted your suggestion to the technical department for analysis.

I had a similar situation with a SEA inverter, which I noticed was capable of better start up loads after I had (inadvertently) increased the length of the cables from the batteries. HOWEVER, after a while - maybe six months or so of fairly solid use, it killed the inverter… just saying :-)
