Hello,
I’ve just bought my AC500 and set UPS to time-controlled.
Now when Peak hours are active and the battery is discharging, the fans will come on at full speed after 30 minutes or so and turn off after 3 to 4 minutes.
This cycle continues while on battery.
Because of the noise and duration of the noise, this is unacceptable.
However when off-peak occurs, the fans do come on, but they are very quiet.
this Is acceptable for me.
Is there no possibility to have the fans spin at the same speed as they do when at off-peak?
|Your help would be much appreciated.
@HeathroX The starting of the fan is affected by many factors, such as load power and temperature rise. You can take a short video for us to check if the noise is normal.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
the power load is about 158W
I believe there was another thread regarding this same issue and the person after getting a replacement unit still had the same issue.
He ended up getting a refund as he felt the AC300 worked better for him.
While I understand that power load and tempreature plays a role, the fans do not spin at full speed once power is drawn from the grid.
Yes, they do come on but at a much quieter and acceptable level which is understandable.
I’m not sure how the video may help in this case. wouldn’t numbers be a better estimate example, if I am able to accept that the fan comes on at a reasonable level then the RPM shouldn’t be high.
But when I complain that it is at a level that is not acceptable then the RPM should be higher and in this case it sounds like it is spinning at its full speed, not sure how much it is in rpm since I can’t measure that.
here is an answer from one of the technical engineers:
Regarding your questions - In Offf-peak mode, the Power Station uses bypass mode, directly passing power through the grid to the loads, so there is no pressure on the internal circuitry. On the other hand, in Peak mode, AC500 supports loads power through Battery, and to keep the internal temperature within the range and evacuate internal heat, the fan runs faster at timed intervals.
I wish we could have an option regarding the speed it spins at to reduce the noise as much as possible.
I don’t mind the fans running at a longer time but rather at a reduced speed.
@HeathroX I asked our engineers if this could be fixed with a firmware upgrade, but unfortunately the answer was no. I am sorry I can’t help you in this case.
Hi,
sure no problem, I understand.
Thank you for your help and checking with the engineers as well.
