I have a Kohler generator that puts out a 60 Hz current, but the AC500 is getting a A083 error. Sometimes the AC500 accepts the output from the generator, and sometimes it does not. It is imperative/essential that my generator can recharge the batteries. Is it possible that there can be a firmware update such that the AS500 can receive the energy input from my Kohler generator.
Do you have grid self-adaption turned on in advanced settings? I believe DSP needs to be firmware version 4057.30 or above.
The app will not let me enable “Grid Self-adaption.” When I click on “Enable”, it lights up and then switches back to “Disable.”
Hi @rwessels, We would like to know if the region you are in only supports 60Hz? Is the frequency setting of the AC500 consistent? If not, please adjust it first; otherwise, charging will not be possible.
If that doesn’t work, please restore the factory settings first and lower the current. Does this help?
We tried to search for your generator model but couldn’t find confirmed information that it is a pure sine wave generator. Could you please provide the SN code and current firmware version of your AC500? We will attempt to push a firmware update.
After upgrading, please click the advanced settings and select “Grid Self-adaption mode.”
If it still doesn’t work, it may indicate that the generator is not a pure sine wave type, and thus cannot be used to charge the AC500.
We appreciate @sealy1986’s kind help!
Self-adaption mode will not stick when I try to enable it.
Hi @rwessels, can you tell us the AC500’s SN number and current firmware version?
We will try to resolve this problem by pushing the new firmware.

Hopefully this is the information you requested. Note, this is an off-grid solution at a second home and I will not be able to update anything on the AC500 unless I can do it remotely. Or, when I get back to the set-up later this month or next.
Hi @rwessels, Thank you for providing the detailed information.
Now I have applied to upgrade your system to our IT department. They will push the latest version of firmware to your unit in 24 hours.
Yes, you need to perform the upgrade while connected via Bluetooth, so please do it after you get home next month. Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please let us know if it works.
Are you saying that I should disconnect the PV input and the batteries before performing the update? I will let you know next time I can. Hopefully, it works.
Hi @rwessels, Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
This is a misunderstanding. We mentioned that please do not load any appliance when upgrading.
It is necessary to maintain sufficient power during the upgrade to avoid running out of power halfway through the upgrade. Therefore, it is recommended not to use the output function during this process.
You can connect the AC500 with the battery pack and solar panel.
