AC500+B300K Loosing charge when not in use

I’ve just purchased a AC500+B300K, charged it to 100% and not yet drawn power from it. However the next day the 100% charge is down to 92%. I’ve drawn no power from the AC500 since purchase. I’ve turned off both AC and DC output. Still discharging without being plugged into anything.

Am I missing something?
Is either the AC500 or B300K defective?

Thanks for any help you can offer. Murray

This is normal when the unit is turned on. Both the AC500 and the B300K use energy when turned on but not in use. The electronics of the AC500 takes energy and the battery management system of the B300K takes energy.

They will take more energy when the AC output is turned on and -in lesser degree- then the DC output is turned on.

When you want to use it as offline emergency power, charge it full and turn it off. Then it will not use any power. Then when you need it turn it on and it will still be at 100% (Or the percentage you charged it to) When you want to use it as UPS, turn on the outputs you need, connect your equipment to it that you want to provide with power protection and accept the internal energy losses.

Hi @MurrayM, Yes, please turn off the device when not in use, as it consumes some power for maintenance standby conditions.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I have a follow-up question about how to turn the paired unit off safely.

When the AC500 and B300K are connected they turn “on” automatically and but don’t turn “off” when I holding the power button down for 5 or 10 seconds. Only if I disconnect the AC500 and B300K from each other will they turn off. But when I disconnect the cable while the units are “on”, there is a warning beep making clear the design doesn’t want me to disconnect the two while the units are on.

So my questions are:

  1. Is there something I can do to turn the units off without disconnecting the two? Is my inabilility to turn them off without disconnecting them first “normal” or a defect for warrenty?
  2. If I disconnect the cables between the two units while they are on, do I risk damaging the units? Or shall I continue to turn them off by disconnecting the cable first, then pushing the power button to turn it off?

As far as I know, you should be able to turn on and off both your AC500 and B300K via the power button of your AC500. At least, that is how it works with the AC500+B300S and AC300+B300. It should not be required to disconnect them all the time. In fact, I don’t know if the plug and socket are designed for so many connections and disconnections. I would take this up with Bluetti support to see what is going on.
