AC300 touchscreen and beeping / not reacting

Hi,

I have observed two similar errors occuring with my AC-300, typically after some months of operation:

In both cases, the touchscreen lights up on it’s own and stays on, ignoring any set timeout.

As a second effect, one of these problems occur:

a) The touch display accepts any input, but it will never be applied, it just turns back to the previous setting. (example: turn off DC-out, confirm, but DC-out stays on – App control keeps working!)

b) The unit begins to emit a constant (non-stop) high-pitched beep sound. Not very loud, but noticable. Input from the touchscreen still works as it should.

I both cases, so far only a complete unit shutdown and restart has helped. At least for a while.

Here is some unit information (from the app):

  • IOT v9014|10 (Upgrade offered to v9014|12)

  • ARM v4037,05 (Upgrade offered to v4037,07)

  • DSP v4036,05 (Upgrade offered to v4036,30)

  • BMS (B300) v1021,06 (Upgrade offered to v1021,07)

Any info about this error I observed? Any of this known to be fixed by the fw upgrades offered?

So sad we don’t have public FW changelogs.

About firmware updates:

What happens to the current state of the AC-300 when upgrading firmware? Will it do a complete reboot after the upgrade? Will it just restart certain sub-components? What happens to AC out? I don’t want my IT to crash!

Also:
Is it possible to manually re-start any sub-component, as in just re-start the subunit controlling the screen w/o touching active AC-out?

FW upgrade safety:
Is it safe to upgrade the FW when all IT equipment including DSL modem and router are connected to AC-300 AC-out? Turning off AC-out during a FW upgrade would crash all IT and stop any running firmware download from the Internet!

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi @mas1701

the firmware gets downloaded in advanced when upgrading with the bluetti app.

As far as i remember, the unit does reboot for certain updates like BMS. For fixing the touchscreen, you should try atleast IOT and ARM.

I think DSP is for Solar Input and BMS update is for SoC related errors.

At the point where the unit turn off, all outputs are also off.
Safely shutdown all systems and upgrade the firmware.

greetings
Erik

Hi @mas1701, Regarding the issue of the AC300 screen staying on, we’d like to know if you’ve set the screen timeout to “Never.”

We also recommend upgrading the firmware to the latest version, as this can effectively resolve the problem where the touch screen is unresponsive when operating the AC/DC switches. Rest assured, the upgrade will not cause the system to crash. Please let us know the test results after upgrading.

As for the high-pitched beep sound, could you record a video and upload it to a cloud service, then share the link with us?
Additionally, we’d like to know the AC300’s error history. This information will help us identify the root cause of the issue.

Thank you for @Selfmadestrom’s kind help! This advice is very important!

Hi,

thanks for replying.

As stated above, the display timeout is set (to 5 minutes - I don’t ever use “never”), the unit just suddenly stops caring about that setting. When the error occurs, the display lights up and stays on. There is NOTHING in the error log.

I already made a video, it was automatically uploaded to my private cloud. Here’s the link:

(The last seconds show freshly connected PV panels, but that didn’t change anything. Although the unit is currently beeping, the newly added PV is working fine, currently at 1,3 kW input.)

Can you please be more specific:

Which FW upgrades will cause a reboot (and temporary AC power-off) and which are safe to run while attached equipment is running?

Hi @mas1701, Thank you for providing the video. All firmware updates will cause a restart, and we recommend not connecting any devices during the upgrade process. Please avoid connecting any load while upgrading.

For the current issue, we suggest contacting the seller to arrange a repair. If you need assistance in finding the relevant support email, please message us privately with your order number, and we’ll help you with that.

Hi, I have news.

This night, I have updated all my IT systems connected to the AC-300 and used the chance at required reboot to turn them off instead, so I could finally disable AC-Out of the AC-300 in order to run the suggested firmware updates.

Important:
The FW update feature on the App becomes unavailable as soon as you turn off AC-Output, if your internet connection relies on devices powered by the AC-300. So in such a case, a mobile data connection is required.

IOT Upgrade:
Went relatively quick. Aside from some clicking, nothing noteworthy happened.

ARM Upgrade:
This took quite a long time, that firnware seems more complex. Again there was some clicking at the end, but most notably, the display that had stayed on permanently (although a 5 minute timeout was set) now went dark again. So the ARM Upgrade is related to the front display of the AC-300 unit. After this upgrade, the display backlight reacted to touch input again, turning on on touch and off again after the set timeout.

DSP Upgrade:
Went a bit faster than the ARM upgrade. Again some clicking at the end and Bluetooth became unavailable for about half a minute.

BMS Upgrade (for one B-300):
This turned out to be the most important one. It took a while, similar to the ARM upgrade, but the effect was remarkable. Not only did this upgrade finish with a complete system reboot of the whole Bluetti setup, the constant beep sound was also gone!

So was that high-pitched constant beep coming from the B-300 and not from the AC-300 after all? I’m not sure, those unit sit directly next to each other and it’s hard to make out the exact source.

So for now, all problems are solved and I’m considering the matter closed. In case of re-appearing problems, “I’ll be back”. ;-)
