I just received a refurbished AC300/B300 combo and I noticed when charging from the wall, the watts begin at 1000+, then after a few seconds drop down to ~650watts, bouncing between about 640 and 680. It seems the drop in watts occurs just when the internal fan kicks on. I checked and the ‘silent mode’ is turned off, but it seems like it thinks it is in silent mode based on this behavior. I tried this on another outlet, same behavior. Any ideas what could be the issue?
Hi @rickwagner50
Did you check, if you might limit the AC current? Also how full are the B300? When they are really empty, they start around 500 - 600W no matter what current you setup and after its getting some higher SoC it will start much faster.

I did check the current limit and tried it at several different values from 3 to 15 and all had the same outcome. The battery SOC was between 70-87% during my testing (battery arrived at 70% and I got it up to 87% using ~670 watts).
Hi @rickwagner50
If its a new unit, you can try to do a full cycle to calibrate the SoC and the if its charging normally afterwards.
To do it, i would charge it now until it shows 100% via AC, drain it with a constant load until the AC shuts off and recharge it all the way up to 100% without any interuptions.

Thanks for your responses. It is a refurbished AC300 unit with 2 refurbished B300 batteries. I am using it in my garage, which is about 55 degrees. Last night I tested another B300 I have that was at 67% SOC and it was able to charge at full charge (1800w) without backing down at all. So, I attached the battery that was backing down to ~670w as a 2nd battery and low and behold, I can charge with both at 1800w from the wall with both attached to the AC300. Battery #1 was the 2nd one I tried (allowed full 1800w charge) and Battery #2 is the one I tried originally that was causing the AC300 charging to back down to 670w. The SOC was different between the 2 batteries last night when I left them to run my fridge - BAT1 was at 78% and BAT2 was as 98%.
As of now, overall battery SOC is 55% and each battery is at 55% (expected outcome). After they are charged down to below 20% I will remove BAT1 and try AC charging with only BAT2 on the AC300 again to see if I still have the same issue. I’ll report back my findings tomorrow when that is done.
So today the batteries were down to 20%. I unplugged BAT1 and charged BAT2 and it took 1800 watts without any issue for a couple of minutes, not backing down watts at all. I plugged BAT1 back in and am in the process of charging them both up to 100%. Not sure what the issue was but now all is good!
