AC240 it turns off at around 60%

Hello @BLUETTI_CARE,
I need assistance with my AC240 charging station, located in Ukraine. A heating system is connected to it, and the outdoor temperature is around –15 to –20°C. Previously, the unit discharged 2–3 times a day down to 0%, but during the last three days, it turns off at around 60%, showing 0% charge.
I suspect there might be an issue with battery balancing.
Please check the possible causes and advise on a solution.

Hi Vittaliy,
The first thing to try is a recalibration. I appreciate this might be difficult if your electricity grid is unreliable.

Recharge to 100% with no loads connected.

Discharge with a constant load (like a heater without a thermostat) until the battery runs out and shuts itself down. Many people seem to recommend using a heater of about 500w for this.

Let it cool down.

Recharge on standard or slow rate, with no breaks in charging, until it reaches 100%.

Occasionally the recalibration process may have to be repeated. It is also good for battery care to perform it every 3 months or so.

My AC240 discharges for three days at 200W and charges at 200W.

Found a place with constant voltage without outages where they agreed to connect my AC240, it’s been connected for a day. Do you have to discharge it to zero before balancing?
Also, please tell me if there is any hope for battery recovery? The official service center said they don’t replace batteries, there are no components.
Are you requesting a firmware update here?
There’s a couple of months left of cold…

Hi @Vittaliy, thank you for contacting us.
I have applied to upgrade your system to our IT department. If the new firmware is available, they will complete the push within 1 working day.
Please upgrade the firmware next Monday. Please do not load any device when upgrading it, and recalibrate it after upgrading the new BMS.
Please let us know if it works.
We appreciate @Tezzabee’s concern regarding this matter.

@Vittaliy you discharge it to zero (so it shuts itself down completely) as the first part of the balancing. You do that with a constant load that does not vary in how many watts it draws. Then you fully recharge it, with no loads on it at all while it is recharging.

@BLUETTI_CARE, Please advise whether a new firmware update is planned. As of now, no updates are available.
I tried to perform battery balancing by fully discharging to 0% and then charging to 100%. However, only about 10% of the capacity remains usable, and the AC240 shuts down at around 90% charge.
Should I continue attempting battery balancing, or does this behavior suggest a malfunction of the battery or BMS that requires service attention?

I found a utility that scans the condition of the cells. Is there a way to perform battery balancing?

It was left charging for 24 hours from an external battery via the PV port and then turned off

Hi @Vittaliy, we have pusehd the new BMS v1035.07, have you received it and upgraded?
If recalibrating the device after the firmware upgrade still doesn’t help, then a repair will need to be arranged.
Thank you to @Tezzabee for the concern and assistance with this issue.
