AC200P to Fusebox, Calculate Breaker Size

Hi,

I have a Bluettit AC200P, which I will use in a campervan.
I’ll hook up the 12V/25 Amps outlet to a fusebox, which will then power the components. To protect the cables and the fusebox, I’ll install a breaker, but I need help calculating the breaker size that I will put between the AC200P and the fusebox.

Below are the parts as I will install them.

  • Bluetti AC200P (12V/25 Amps outlet)
  • The cable from Bluetti is 12 AWG (~3.3mm²) (less than 1m (3 feet)).
  • BREAKER AMPS?
  • a 4mm² cable (~11AWG) (less than 1m (3feet)).
  • The fusebox is 30 Amps

If you need 80% from the lowest component (25 Amps power outlet), I should get a 20 Amps breaker. Is this correct? (won’t that shut off the circuit constantly?)

Thanks for helping me out.

Kind Regards

Hi,

this depends primarily on the maximum temperature and how well the cable can cool down. Up to 60°C is normally expected in the vehicle.
12AWG is slightly less than 4 mm², so I would definitely fuse below 16A …

diameter [mm²] max. current [A] at 30 °C max. current [A] at 60 °C
2,5 32 16
4 42 21
6 54 27
10 73 36.5
