AC200Max Wireless Charging at 8 watts?

With or without the case, my iphone15 plus max only draws 8 watts when using the wireless charging pad. I thought 15 watts was supposed to be the rate. Anyone else have different results?

It is designed to provide a maximum of 15 watts to a compatible phone. My iPhone 12 takes around 8 watts. Like anything that we power, it takes what it needs. It does not “force” 15 watts into the phone. It will also reduce the watts as the phone approaches 100%.

But with other chargers the Iphone draws 15W.
But only if the charger can deliver the power
with all the inefficiency of wireless charging the display should show 20-25W if the phone gets charged with 15W
(what the iphone can defensively do)

After delving into this further, I see that iPhones from the model 12 on, actually differentiate between regular Qi chargers and their MagSafe chargers. With regular Qi chargers, charging rate is limited to 7.5 watts and with MagSafe, the full 15 watts may be delivered.

So, we are seeing the wattage controlled by the iPhone per their design when placed on the AC200Max wireless charging pads. Perhaps some other brands of phones might charge at a higher rate.

Finally, while charging the iPhone will vary charge rate based on state of the battery, temperature, etc.
