AC200MAX charging on cheap rate, overnight

Hi, I’ve had my AC200MAX for some time, and I’ve always charged it via solar.

But now, I want to also charge it overnight, on a cheap rate electricity tarif (Scottish Power EV saver), which runs from midnight to 5am.

I’ve put a timer switch on the power brick, so it comes on at midnight, however by that time, the AC200MAX has gone to sleep (and so have I), and it doesn’t charge, as the charger doesn’t seem to wake it up (unlike solar).

So… is there a way to keep the AC200MAX awake? Or to make it wake up, if it gets a charge from the charger?

Hello
You can use a 24V cigarette lighter charger, plugged into a multiple outlet, controlled by a time programmer, then connect the cigarette lighter socket with the 2 cables provided (below): the car charging cable to the XT90, connected to the XT90 cable to the cable aviation, itself connected to the solar input, because the solar input can wakup the AC200MAX.

I will test this evening to see if a charger with a voltage of only 12V is enough to wake up the AC200MAX… because it is even cheaper.

12v on the solar input is not enough to wake up the AC200max, you must take a 24v cigarette port adapter (12v is enough to prevent the AC200max from being turned off but not to turn it on)

Hi, thanks for trying all that out.

Someone else has suggested putting a USB device in, and switch DC on, to keep it awake…

So I’m going to try this tonight…sounds easier!

Does seem odd though, that solar will wake it up, but mains power won’t…

Yes, if you plug in a USB device (like a phone) to charge with DC on, the AC200max will not turn off. However, if the batteries are empty (0%) the AC200max will still turn off!

Just connect AC-DC 24V/10A power supply to solar input. Then it turn on, when power supply turns and you can charge with 200W… like Meanwell - NDR-240-24

only consider that you loose 15-20%… in total from AC to LiFePo…
