Yet another question as we transition our van power from the (defective) AC200MAX to the AC200L…
We power our Bluetti while driving via the Ram’s alternator and a Renogy 1000w inverter. Worked perfectly for the past three years with other Bluetti’s. Today, we connected our AC200L to the inverter/alternator but the inverter drew in about 1200w (normally it brings about 450 into the Bluetti while driving), and tripped.
In simple terms, can you tell me why this is happening? Why is the alternator/inverter trying to bring in 3x the amount of power than it did with the AC200MAX?
Sounds like your 200L is set to standard mode charging which is 1200W. You need to set it via the App to Silent mode charging which is 800W.
An inverter (A power source) will provide power to a device (AC200L) up to its maximum current draw. If the current draw is more than the inverter can provide it will eventually overload. As the 200L has variable charge rates, (Check the user manual) you need to set it to a rate below the maximum rated output of the source.
Also, be aware, this change also affects DC charging. So, if you have solar in excess of 800W when not driving, you will need to adjust the charge rate of the AC200L to match.
Thanks for this info. Before reading this, I lowered the Max Grid Input Current from 12A to 7A (Advanced Settings). Should I change it back to 12A and then put it in Silent Mode?
We ran the Bluetti yesterday for 11.5 hours with only a 12v fridge plugged in (kept the AC off). It drained about 3% per hour. Does that seem right?
I would at least try this option as your lowering of the input in advanced settings is a last resort if the more simple method of adjusting the charge rate in the App to silent is the first option and solves the problem.
So, yes, return the charge rate to 12A in Advanced settings, then lower the rate to Silent and try again.
In that way should you charge from the grid or solar, all you need to do is set the rate to Standard or Turbo.
BTW Silent mode is much kinder to battery longevity than higher charge rates.
