Hey everyone,
First time poster.
I have an AC 180. I am currently having success charging the battery with the Charger 1, which is connected directly to the main battery of my Sprinter van.
I recently installed an Eco-Worthy 200w solar panel on top of the van, and with an extended MC-4 compatible cable brought the power to the AC-180.
Panel specs are 200w, VMP 18.9v, Max power current 10.59a, VOC 21.6v.
Upon plugging directly into the AC 180, I see no input power at all.
Volt meter shows 19v at the lead that plugs into AC 180.
Does anyone have any insight as to why the AC 180 is not registering any input from the panel?
Bluetti tech rep says the 10.59 amp is too high for the AC 180, but everything I read says that it shouldn’t be a problem.
Thanks
@bpketron Your panel is fine for the AC180, however, because its output is below 32VDC the maximum you will get is 8A not 10A.
Secondly, if your Charger 1 is working fine, then the input to the AC180 is working ok and it’s the same input you would use for solar.
The next thing to check is cabling from the panel and the panel itself. Do you have another solar controller you can input the panel to, to check it? A faulty panel may show voltage, but under load mat not provide any power. (W)
One final point, even tho’ the specs of the panel show 10.59A, you will rarely get that, even in perfect conditions, so it’s output will likely be less than 10A and will be clipped by the low voltage to 8 anyway.
Another, final thought, if the AC180 is full, you won’t see any input, you don’t say what the SOC of the AC180 is.
