200 V2 : auto power off?

Hi all, I have a new 200 V2 and I love it.

One question:

  • When the main power is ON and the DC & AC were not turned on, it shut itself off completely after about 1 minute. This has nothing to do with ECO mode as both ECO DC and ECO AC were off and disabled in the app. Is this normal? If yes, how do I disable it (not having it turning off)? I don’t want to keep AC/DC on but I like to have the unit in standby and ready.

Note that when the main power is ON and either DC or AC is turned on but with no load, it did not turn off, as expected.
Thanks!

Normal behavior. As far as I know it is not possible to disable. The behavior assumes if you deactivate both DC and AC you aren’t using the power station and it will enter a self-preservation mode. ECO mode is more so when you are using an intermittent DC or AC source and after a certain time period there appears to be no activity, will deactivate the port. An example would be if you have your Maxxair fan running during the day on auto temp, then it gets cold at night and shuts itself off, you will preserve self-consumption by turning off the port. Likewise you have an AC fan you sleep with at night that is on a 4H timer. During your sleep its consuming say 50W. Then it shuts off. No need to run the inverter the ENTIRE time, so henceforth the ECO feature.

Your best option in my opinion is to just always leave DC port on. Assume self consumption of DC port is 5W. That’s 414 hours you would have to leave it on without recharging it before it would die. Or every 4 hours it loses 1% charge basically. Assume you get 8 hours of possible sunlight during the day. That’s 16 hours of no charge. So you would lose 4% per day just leaving DC on ALL the time. If you got around 100 watts from your panel, you would get back your entire lost charge in 1 hour.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it. My use case is like this: I want to power it ON but leave DC/AC off with some loads plugged in. I don’t want to leave them on to waste power. I will access it with the app only when I need/want to turn on the loads. It really shouldn’t turn it OFF in this case or at least it should have an option in the app to enable/disable.

In case you are curious I believe the difference between POWER ON, AC/DC OFF vs. POWER ON, DC ON is about 6 watts. So in your preferred mode its using 6W constant, vs DC always on its using around 12W. So add 6W to keep the lights on. I agree with your assessment though. The feedback is contradictory to the shutdown logic. I assume if I turn the device on and the power light is green, it will stay on. Or atleast give me some notification it will turn off if nothing is detected in X amount of hours/minutes. I understand why Bluetti did what they did from a design decision. Preserve the battery. Less heat on the battery. Prolongs its life, etc. This would be a nice feature to have in a new software update. Bluetti can just keep the default behavior the same, then allow the option, with a disclaimer about why doing it is “NOT preferred”.

Thanks again. I understand what you said, but I still think it’s a poor implementation. If they allow the unit to be powered on and stayed on with DC on, then if it stayed on with DC off should be better for the battery, no? That’s why I thought it was a poor design implementation than concern for the battery. (If it was the concern for the battery then it shouldn’t even allow power on and DC on with no load)

Hi @marsman, It seems that you need the Elite 200 V2 to remain powered on instead of completely shutting down when the AC/DC output is not activated, is that correct?

Based on your requirement, we have a new firmware that enables the Sleep Mode.
Please upgrade to the latest firmware and app, then you can activate this function via the app.

After enabling this feature, the Elite 200 V2 will enter Sleep Mode after being unused. It can be remotely awakened and powered on through the APP. If the SOC is lower than the reserved SOC (State of Charge) value set in the Sleep Mode, it will shut down completely and can only be powered on by the power button on the device.

Thanks to @sealy1986 for the professional explanation and kind help.

@BLUETTI_CARE Thank you so much for the super fast support and this is what I appreciate the most from a company!

Yes, @sealy1986 is always great and I appreciate the clear explanation.

I just opened the app after seeing your reply and saw that the “sleep mode” option is already there so I enabled it. The unit is being recharged from the grid so I’ll try it after it’s done.

Thank you so much for the help!

Great work @BLUETTI_CARE! Follow up question for you. If a user intentionally (or accidentally) turned off the power from the unit itself by holding the power button for a few seconds, does the sleep mode function in the app still allow remote wakeup? In other words make sure you don’t do a manual shutdown or you’ll break the remote wakeup functionality. It would be like don’t pull your network cable from the back of the computer if you need to access it remotely type of deal.

Update:

  • When SLEEP MODE was enabled in the app, you can’t turn it off by holding down the power button. When I held down the button, it said “SLP” and went back to sleep. However, when I kept holding the button after ‘SLP’ showed up, then the ‘OFF’ showed up and powered off completely.

  • I could only turn it off completely from the app. From the app’s ‘POWER OFF’ button, when clicked, it asked if we want to ‘SHUT DOWN’ or ‘SLEEP’. There is no such option when holding down the POWER button on the unit.

  • After it went to sleep, the green LED on the POWER button on the unit turned off too. Had to wake it up either from the app or by pressing & holding the POWER button for a few seconds (see above).

Do I have the latest firmware version for my 200V2?

Hi @marsman, Thank you for the update.
You’re welcome! We are more than happy to meet our customers’ needs, and this feature is indeed very practical.

We have checked and found that your firmware is already the latest version, so there is no need for further upgrades.

Hi @sealy1986, Thank you for your attention to this matter.

When entering sleep mode, pressing the power button will make the screen display that the device has entered hibernation. It can be woken up via the mobile phone at this time.
However, if you want to shut down directly, you need to long-press the power button for more than 5 seconds, and the device will shut down directly and will can’t be woken up by the app.

In addition, when the battery level is lower than the set SOC value of sleep mode, it will also shut down directly.

I absolutely LOVE this new feature! And thanks for sharing this little write up on it! Definitely will be sharing to others. Also, I think we need to push the word about this more as I don’t think many people know about it and it truly is a GREAT addition. Would love to see this available on other units as well!! :kissing_heart:

Hi @m.briney, Thank you for your attention to and sharing of this matter.

Our current announcement of this function is indeed insufficient, and we have forwarded your suggestions to the publicity department. New announcement plans will be released in the future.

In addition, our new models, Apex300 and Elite200 V2, already have this function built in. In the future, this function may be launched in our upcoming new models, but the capacity may be limited to 2 kWh or higher models.

To be honest, I think it shouldn’t be limited to any unit, regardless of the capacity. It should be up to each individual user to decide if they need their unit to SLEEP or not. If the battery depletes while in SLEEP mode, so be it.
