My Elite 100v2 (very early unit) has been sitting in my storage unit for 4 or 5 months since last time I charged it. I use it a little bit and it powers stuff fine (including my laser printer which uses about 1000W surge), and the SOC display says 88%. But I wonder how accurate that is when the unit has been sitting idle this long. Should I take it home and charge it? Does it suffice to just plug it in until it shows fully charged, or do I need to run a discharge cycle or anything like that? Thanks.
Hi, if you are mainly just storing it you should do the full discharge / recharge cycle every 3 months.
Thanks, I actually do use it in the storage unit, though more in the summer to run a cooling fan when I’m working in there. This time of year it’s been mostly to occasionally use my computer printer. So I guess the 88% SOC display doesn’t mean much. OK, I will bring it home and use it to cook something in my instant pot, and will see if that uses up the power. I’m in California and power is expensive here, so just draining it into a resistive heater or something feels horribly wasteful. ![]()
it is better to use something with a steady load, but I do find that the batteries I run down from 100 to 0% and fully recharge regularly rarely need recalibrating, even though the load varies (like running my fridge).
